Mehandipur balaji temple history :


Balaji Hanuman Temple is one of the most famous temple in  India, it has a rich and fascinating history. This temple was around 1000 years old. According to the belief, the idol of Lord Hanuman self-appeared amidst the hills of the Aravali and is not created by any artist. Previously, the area of the temple was a dense forest where the ancestors of Shri Mahant Ji started worshipping Balaji hanuman. According to the story, the three deities came in a dream of Shri Mahant Ji, and he heard a voice ordering him to be ready for serving his duty. Suddenly, Lord Balaji hanuman appeared before him and ordered: "Take duty of serving me". After this incident, they started worshipping Lord Hanuman in that place.

The temple of Balaji Maharaj built in Mehandipur is very famous especially in northern part of India. The first Mahant of the temple was Shri Ganeshpuriji Maharaj and the present Mahant of the temple Shri Kishorpuriji is very strict to follow vegetarian and reading holy books.

One of the person who is suffering from evil spirits (Sankatwalas) get relief from distress by methods like Arji, Sawamani, and Darkhast. Saturday and Tuesday are the busiest days in the temple because both these days are the days of Hanumanji. Some other temples near Balaji temple are Anjani Mata temple, Kali Mata at Teen Pahaad, Panchmukhi Hanumanji, Ganeshji temple at Saat Pahaad, Samadhi Wale Baba  are the some of the important temples in Mehandipur Balaji.

Sri Mehandipur Balaji Temple is known as the powerful temple which cures a person possessed with evil spirit. People who are possessed by malignant spirits  are popularly knowns as ‘Sankatwalas’ in local language here. The ‘Mahant’ of the temple, Shri Kishor Puri Ji, prescribes the treatment. 

Where  ‘Sankatwalas’ go through different physical therapies like keeping heavy stones on their body, on arms, legs, and chest, to ease their pain. Some of them are  inhale the smoke that fumes out of the sweet Patasa’s kept on smoldering cowpats. one of them who is  with a serious case of spirit possession,  tends to get violent, are even shackled in chains within the temple premises.
